Weir man charged with aggravated assault

After being on the run for a week, a Weir man was arrested in Douglas County, Georgia and extradited back to Choctaw County on a charge of aggravated assault stemming from a family altercation.

Sheriff Brandon Busby said Michael Miller, 42, has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with the shooting of Lequane Crawford.

Choctaw County: "A" standard of excellence

For another year, the Choctaw County School District has received an “A” rating from the Mississippi Department of Education. This is the district’s second A rating, since MDE restarted accountability grades after COVID. The district moved from a B to an A, and has consistently worked to maintain their accountability grade.
