Work continues on the new Sportsplex on Highway 12

The Town of Ackerman Board of Aldermen is moving forward with the progress of the new Sportsplex, to be located on Highway 12. The board approved Wildstone Construction of Flora, in the amount of $120,000 to install the new drainage system. Mayor Dale Reid said this will ensure the water will not run downhill.

Renew America’s Schools awards Weir Elementary $800,000

The Choctaw County School Board learned that Weir Elementary had been awarded over $800,000 in a grant from Renew America’s Schools. At their monthly board meeting, the board learned Weir had been awarded $836,000 for updates to the school’s HVAC, lighting, ceilings, and windows.

ASPIRE looks to “Light up” Ackerman by adding light project
