Noxapater basketball coach Pasty Cleveland had a good first week with her Lady Tigers basketball team. The Lady Tigers picked up two wins last week after going winless last season, beating Choctaw County 52-46 and Grace Christian 55-36.

Nanih Waiya basketball debuts with mixed results

The Nanih Waiya boys basketball team opened up the season by winning two out of three games last week. The Warriors took a 61-35 win over French Camp and then dropped a 55-47 decision to Pisgah. They finished out the week on Saturday as they beat Enterprise 55-47.

The French Camp girls lost 59-34 to Nanih Waiya and 39-20 to Union while the Panthers fell 61-35 to the Warriors and 64-13 to the Yellowjackets. Nanih Waiya’s season came to an end at the hands of the defending Class 2A champions.

Scott Central raced out to an early lead and cruised to a 49-7 win over the Warriors.

Nanih Waiya finished the season with a 2-9 record while Scott Central improved to 9-2 on the year.
