The Winston County Board of Supervisors held its annual budget hearing for the public just prior to the regularly scheduled monthly board meeting on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
Board President Luke Parkes opened the meeting and invited questions from the public. There were no comments or questions from anyone present regarding expenditures or taxes during the public hearing.
For the 2024 fiscal year, Winston County adopted a projected budget of $13,736,189.00. Of this number, $5,167,000 of revenue was brought in via ad valorem taxes. For the 2025 fiscal year, the county is proposing a budget that totals $14,891,357.00. The county expects to bring in $5,501,080.00 in ad valorem taxes for the next year’s budget.
There is no change in the millage rate for property owners in the county.
The public should be aware that the only increase to one’s taxes would be if the property was valued at a higher number than in previous years. One’s home, rental property, or business fixtures are all items that may be reassessed in order to figure one’s taxes due.
The adopted budget – which passed unanimously during the public hearing with no objection from anyone present – will be published later this month in the Winston County Journal.
