At the monthly meeting of the Winston County Board of Supervisors, Head Librarian Beth Edwards and Branch Director Josh Hadet presented a timeline of activities taking place at the Winston County Library. Edwards shared still photos of the numerous events that take place at the library while adding all the events planned for the month of July. Edwards makes regular presentations regarding library activity quarterly at both the Board of Supervisorsí meeting and the City of Louisville Board of Aldermen meeting. While the Winston County Library hosts monthly activities for citizens of all ages across the county, June is special in that itís the month of the annual Summer Reading Program. This year, Edwards and her team at the library created programs for not only preschool and schoolaged children, but also for adults. These activities are great opportunities for socializing, and many older adults attend these activities regularly. Edwards remarked that it is a great way for some older adults to simply get out of the house and interact with others. Hadet followed up by sharing the projected budget for the upcoming year, which he shared with the board. Edwards added that there are three major events at the library in July: a ìFancyî Tea Party on July 12, an author event on July 25, and a ìLanguage Exchangeî event on July 26. Paper copies of the schedule for each month may be picked up at the Winston County Library. County Engineer Jimmy Kemp also shared pertinent information with the board. Kemp reminded the board that he had sent off the information to the State (Road) Aid engineer, and that they should have an answer from him within one or two weeks. Board President Luke Parks asked Kemp what the next steps to expect would be; Kemp replied that any projects not already in the report he turned in should be noted and that bidding would be the next step once he had approval from the state aid engineer. Kemp added that he had no further information about the federal project he had sent in regarding roads in District 4. To his knowledge, Tunica and Winston were the areas where the federal money might be allocated. Locals should note that while Winston County has been considered; they have not been awarded any federal monies from this particular entity as of Mondayís meeting.
