Jackson, Miss. (Feb. 16, 2022) – Students from East Central Middle School in Moss Point won the recent 2022 Mississippi Regional Science Bowl and advanced to the National Science Bowl, which will be held April 28 – May 2 in Washington, D.C.
The Science Bowl was sponsored by the Mississippi Development Authority’s Energy and Natural Resources Division and the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. Forty-five students representing six middle schools from around the state participated. The Science Bowl is a fast-paced verbal forum in which students solve technical problems and answer questions related to all areas of science and math.
“The Mississippi Regional Science Bowl is an opportunity for the next generation of STEM-field professionals to test the knowledge and skills they’ll need for the for in-demand careers of the future,” said Sumesh Arora, director of MDA-ENRD. “MDA is proud to host this event and to congratulate East Central Middle School, along will all the participants of this year’s event.”
Students from the East Central Middle School team will compete against other regional middle school winners from around the country at the national competition.
