The Wolverines enjoyed the dry weather and won six games last week as they scored 68 runs in the process.
East Webster opened the week with a 10-0 win over Kosciusko and then beat Tupelo Christian 5-3 on Thursday. The Wolverines swept a doubleheader from Northside on Friday, winning 11-1 and 13-4. On Saturday, the Wolverines traveled to Decatur and beat Newton County 12-0 and Morton 17-7.
East Webster, now 9-3 on the year, will return to play this week as they play Eupora in a key 2-2A series. The Wolverines will host the Eagles on Tuesday and travel to Eupora on Friday in their only scheduled games this week.
East Webster 12, Newton County 0
The Wolverines used a 10-run second inning and took a five-inning, run-rule win over the Cougars on Saturday.
East Webster had 11 hits in the contest, led by Wes Silver who was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Jase Grantham was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Jon Austin Roberts was also 2-for-3 with a double. Jesse Roberts doubled and drove in two runs while John Wesley Hardin scored two runs.
Jon Austin Roberts got the start and pitched all five innings, giving up five hits and two walks while striking out three as the Wolverines didn’t commit an error on defense.
East Webster 17, Morton 7
After falling behind in the first, the Wolverines eventually took a 10-run win in their second game of the day on Saturday.
Morton scored five in the first inning and one in the second and fourth. East scored one in the first and third and four in the second to tie the game at 6-6. After falling behind 7-6, East scored three in the fifth and eight in the sixth.
=East Webster had 16 hits as Wes Silver was 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and seven RBIs after going 2-for-2 in the first game of the day. Jase Grantham was 4-for-5 with four runs scored while Sloan Hillhouse was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Cameron Pilgrim was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs while Hastings Gibson was 2-for-3. John Wesley Hardin walked twice and scored two runs.
Gavin Edwards pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings and struck out two.
East Webster 11, Northside 1
The Wolverines scored in every inning and took a five-inning, run-rule victory.
East scored three in the first and fourth, two in the third and fifth and one in the second.
East had 10 hits, reached on five errors and drew five walks.
Gavin Edwards was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs while Luke McKee was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Parker Burleson tripled and drew two walks while Kendell Carden doubled. Ethan Roberts also scored three runs.
Gavin Edwards started and pitched two innings and gave up two hits and struck out three. Sloan Hillhouse, Hastings Gibson, Ethan Roberts and Chandler Hodges each pitched one inning apiece.
East Webster 13, Northside 4
The Wolverines banged out 11 hits and drew nine walks as they took a nine-run win over Northside to sweep a doubleheader.
Each team scored one run in the first while East added two in the third and seventh, one in the fourth, four in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Wes Silver led the Wolverines at the plate, going 3-for-4 double, triple, three runs scored and two RBIs. Jase Grantham scored three runs while Hastings Gibson scored two runs and had two RBIs. Cameron Pilgrim drew three walks while John Wesley Hardin scored two runs. Jesse Roberts had two RBIs while Ethan Roberts also had a triple.
Roberts got the start on the mound and pitched five innings, giving up four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out six. Chandler Hodges pitched the next two innings and gave up one hit and struck out four.
East Webster 5, Tupelo Christian 3
The Wolverines held off a late charge by TCPS to take a two-run win on Thursday.
TCPS scored one in the fourth and two in the sixth. East scored one in the second and fifth and added three in the fourth.
East had seven hits on the day as Sloan Hillhouse was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Jase Grantham and Wes Silver were also 2-for-3 while Hastings Gibson scored two runs and John Wesley Hardin had two RBIs.
Kainan Reed pitched three innings and scattered four hits and three walks while striking out four. Will Gaskin pitched two inning and gave up two runs on two walks. Gray McCarter pitched the last two innings, giving up one run on one hit and three walks while striking out four.
East Webster 10, Kosciusko 0
The Wolverines used a steady supply of offense and took a five-run win over Whippets on Monday.
East scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings and added three in the third and four in the fifth to win by the run rule.
