After sweeping through Division 2-2A foes in the regular season, the Wolverines hit a speed bump on Friday night in the division tournament championship game.
After beating Calhoun City 68-55 on Thursday night, the Wolverines dropped a 47-42 decision to Leflore County in the title game.
“This group has accomplished a lot,” East Webster coach Michael Seger said. “We are disappointed for the guys but not disappointed in them. We are thankful for the opportunity to play in the state playoffs next week at home. I expect the sting of this loss will make our guys pull even closer together. I'm proud of them.”
The Wolverines fall to 21-5 on the season and finish as the No. 2 seed in division play after winning the regular-season title. East was set to host Riverside on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
