The Noxapater Tigers had two lifters win their weight class in the Class 1A South State Powerlifting meet held on March 10.
In the 123-pound weight class, defending state champion Ty Duran finished first in the South with a 720-pound total, outdistancing his nearest opponent by 150 pounds. Duran had a 255-pound squat, 150-pound bench press and 315-pound dead lift.
Also qualifying for the state meet is junior Josh McClendon, who won the 165-pound category with a total of 995 pounds. McClendon had a 355-pound squat, 225-pound bench press and a 415-pound deadlift to secure first in the weight class.
Also qualifying for the state meet was Ryan Whitfield, who finished third in the 242-pound weight class with a three-lift total of 1,170 pounds. Whitfield had a 450-pound squat, 260-pound bench press and a 460-pound dead lift.
Jarin Lewis finished fourth in the 308-pound plus category with a total of 980 pounds. Chris Roberts finished sixth in the 198-pound category with a total of 715 pounds.
Noxapater finished fifth overall in the meet with 19 points while Sacred Heart was first with 46 points.
The Class 1A powerlifting meeting will be held on April 14 at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
