The East Webster football team had three players sign to play at the next level last week.
Isaac Patterson and Cole Morgan both signed to play at East Central Community College while Conner Goodin signed to play at Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
“I’m excited for all three of them,” East Webster football coach Ron Price said. “I tried to explain to all three of them that I hope they will take advantage of this opportunity. Nothing is going to be easy. The competition will get harder and the football will get harder. It’s an opportunity that not everyone gets. All three of them are going to good football programs.”
Morgan, who comes in at 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds, will likely play defensive end at East Central.
“He signed as a defensive end and I think will do well there since he can focus on just the defensive side of the football.” Price said. “He played on both sides of the football for us this year. He did everything we asked him to do. He’s an athletic kid who does well in the classroom. I think the sky is the limit for him. If he will go and buy into what they are asking him to do, he will do fine. I think East Central got a good football player in Cole.”
Patterson, who stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs 210 pounds, will be a safety at East Central.
“Out of the three, Isaac is the best athlete of the group,” Price said. “I don’t think he has nearly reached his full potential. He has a nose for the football and I think if he will go in there and compete. He has a chance to be a starter. I certainly think he can play past the junior college level. Isaac is another bright kid in the classroom and and a really intelligent student. I think East Central is getting two quality guys. I hope they will take advantage of the opportunity and show people that East Webster produces quality football players.”
Conner Goodin signed to be a long snapper at Co-Lin.
“I just don’t think people understand how important a long snapper is to a football team,” Price said. “Conner has indicated that he would like to be a coach and this is a great opportunity for him to learn from some different coaches. Co-Lin is a great football program and I’m really excited for him.”
