Three Nanih Waiya baseball players were recently recognized on the Mississippi Association of Coaches Class 1A All-state baseball teams.
Senior Tanner Luke was named a first-team utility player while senior Coley Taylor was named a second-team infielder and Jake Kight was named a second-team pitcher.
Luke led the team with a .544 batting average as he had eight doubles, three homes runs and 20 RBIs. Luke was second on the team with 28 innings pitched and had a 5-1 record and a 2.25 ERA. He struck out 35 batters and only walked 17.
Kight hit .422 for the Warriors this season and led the team with 34 RBIs this season. H also had eight doubles and a team high five home runs. On the mound, the Memphis golf signee led the team with 43 innings pitched, giving up just eight earned runs on the season as he struck out 65 and walked 37.
Taylor hit .390 for the Warriors and had 17 RBI and three home runs along with six doubles.
Luke and Taylor will each play in the Crossroads Diamond Club D.M. Howie High School All-star baseball game featuring players from Class 1A and 2A at William Carey College on June 6.
The Warriors finished the season with a 21-3 record.
