The Louisville Wildcats saw an early lead slip away as Philadelphia earned an 18-10 win over the Wildcats last Thursday.
Dre Shumaker was a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and two walks. Roper Stoots went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, two runs and two walks. Camden Sanders was 2-for-4.
Orian Evans had a team-high three RBIs, and Ty Cooper tallied two RBIs.
Sanders and Jace Hudspeth each stole two bases.
The Wildcats are 5-14 on the season and have clinched a spot in the Region 4-4A postseason as a No. 4 seed. They’ll face either Rosa Fort or Yazoo City beginning Friday.
“We’ve fought hard all year,” Louisville coach Kylie Ming said. “We’re in a tough district and it’s just to be able to come out the district and be able to be in the playoffs. I’m excited. We match up against the Delta region, and I feel really good about our chances of advancing.
Louisville travels to Madison Central Monday for its regular-season finale.
SOFTBALL
Rain squashed two Louisville softball scheduled games last week, but the Lady Wildcats were still able to grab a 22-0 win against Noxubee County to earn their second win of the season.
The 2-11 Lady Wildcats conclude their regular season this week with games against East Webster Tuesday and Noxubee County Wednesday.
