The Choctaw County High School football team will face an MHSAA Class 4A school for the second week in a row Friday when the Chargers play at Clarksdale. The Wildcats, a traditional power in the sport, began the season with victories over Coahoma Early College, Greenville and Coahoma County, then lost to two larger schools, 5A Cleveland Central and unbeaten 6A power South Panola.
“Clarksdale is going to be athletic. They're going to be fast,” Roberts said.
The Wildcats are led by Queston Skipper, who is averaging more than 10 yards per carry. “They want to get the ball to him” Roberts said.

NOXAPATER, NW TOP REGION 2-1A STANDINGS
Just two weeks into Region 2-1A play there only two teams who are unscathed in league play. Both Noxapater and Nanih Waiya are at the top of the standings at 2-0, while West Lowndes, Hamilton, French Camp Academy, and Tupelo Christian are 1-1. Vardaman, Smithville, and Okolona are all three winless.
Noxapater is ranked No. 1 in MHSAA Class 1A according to Mississippi Gridiron, while Smithville is No. 2, Lumberton No. 3, Nanih Waiya No. 4 and Hollandale-Simmons No. 5.

JOHNSON STEPS UP FOR FCA
French Camp’s C.J. Johnson, a 5-10, 172-pound quarterback and defensive back, had his best offensive game of the season in a 59-44 loss to Tupelo Christian. Johnson completed eight passes for 142 yards and one touchdown and ran 16 times for 120 yards and two TDs.

MCNEAL HOLDS HARMON IN CHECK
Choctaw County’s Ques McNeal, a 5-11,165-pound wide receiver and cornerback, caught a 22-yard touchdown pass in a 48-7 win over Kosciusko. “He made a really nice play on the ball,” said coach Jeff Roberts.
But his biggest contribution to the victory came on defense, where he had the assignment of covering Antonio Harmon, the Whippets' top receiver. Harmon had four receptions, but for only 22 yards. “He did a great job,” Roberts said.

HILLCREST SNAPS 29-GAME SKID
Hillcrest Christian School removed itself from the top of list of Mississippi high schools with the lowest football losing streak as they traveled to Louisiana on Friday night and took a 15-0 win over River Oaks to snap their skid at 29 games.
“My guys have been working very hard and I felt good that they were finally able to taste victory,” said Hillcrest head coach Shay Hodge, a former standout at Ole Miss.

LOUISVILLE HOSTING NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS
Louisville High School will be celebrating its nine MHSAA State Football Championships Friday night during it’s 7 p.m. home match-up with Yazoo City.
Members of the championship teams from 1985, 1986, 1991, 1993, 1995, 2007, 2008, 2013, and 2018 are invited to take part in the festivities at R.E. Hinze Stadium.
Last Friday night Louisville celebrated the 2019 Lady Wildcats basketball team that won the Class 4A State Championship.
