Colby Walters, a senior at French Camp Academy, goes both ways on the football team at wide receiver and defensive back. He is also the top runner on the cross country team who finished 10th in the 1A state meet last year. Last Friday, he was on the field for most of the game, with three tackles, in a 20-14 overtime victory over Okolona. The next morning, he ran 5,000 meters in sweltering heat at the French Camp Invitational. Walters finished second, leading French Camp to the team title.
“I told him those two sports don't marry very well,” said football coach Nathan Wright, who added “He's a great runner.”
