The Pat Byrd era of football at Winston Academy will officially begin Aug. 17, when the Patriots host Newton County Academy.
Winston’s 2018 football schedule and all of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools’ fall schedules were released last week by the MAIS.
The Pats have six home dates on the 2018 slate, which is mirror image of the 2017 schedule with sites reversed.
Winston is coming off a 3-7 campaign, when the Patriots earned victories over NCA, Sylva-Bay Academy and Winona Christian School while competing in a rugged MAIS District 2-AAA. The Patriots were competitive for the most part during a seven-game losing skid, falling by three points to district foe Canton Academy and by two scores to district rival Leake Academy.
After the home date with NCA, Winston travels to Sylva-Bay on Aug. 24 and returns home to host Copiah Academy Aug. 31.
The Pats will kick off September with a trip to Indianola Academy Sept. 7, followed by a home game with East Rankin Academy Sept. 14. They’ll host Starkville Academy Sept. 21 and go to Canton Academy Sept. 28.
Winston visits Heritage Academy Oct. 5, hosts Leake Academy Oct. 12 and travels to Winona Christian Oct. 19.
