The Ole Miss and Mississippi State men’s basketball teams have had successful seasons so far. The Rebels are on a current six-game win streak,with a 9-2 record, while the Bulldogs are on a eight-game win streak with only one loss this season.
The Rebels will start SEC play in less than two weeks as they will play Vanderbilt on Jan. 5. The Rebels recently picked up a win against Middle Tennessee State, as head coach Kermit Davis made his return to Nashville. The Rebels are led by Terrence Davis who averages 15 points per game and Breenin Tyree who averages nearly 18 points per game. The team leads the conference in free throw shooting and field goal percentage.
The Rebels usually start struggling once they get into conference play so they need to be readying themselves for whatever may be coming their way. Vanderbilt has had Ole Miss' number these past few years. We will see how SEC play works out for the Rebels.
The Bulldogs are led by Quinndary Weatherspoon and Lamar Peters. They are both great weapons who are putting this team in the nations top 25.
As a team the Bulldogs are leading the SEC in 3 point shooting. With the Rebels shortly following. The Bulldogs start SEC play against South Carolina on Jan. 8. On Jan. 12 the two teams will face one another in Starkville in what will be a good matchup. Mississippi State is a great ball team but the Rebels have a lot of potential. It will be a game with a lot of 3 point shooting. Both of these teams have a lot of potential and could end up with great seasons.
