This past week the Ole Miss basketball team picked up two huge top 15 wins.
On Wednesday they defeated number 11 Auburn 82-67. Terrence Davis recorded a double-double. With 27 points and 12 rebounds. The Rebels dominated the whole game, not trailing once throughout the game. Second chance points is what really helped the Rebels put up numbers. Auburn was shooting the ball well but Ole Miss was doing better. That’s what helped the Rebels win the game.
The Rebels traveled to Starkville Saturday to face the No. 14 Mississippi State Bulldogs.
This was one of the best SEC matchups all year as the Rebels defeated the Bulldogs 81-77. Injuries and fouls slowed the Rebels down early, but Freshman Blake Hinson caught fire throughout the game as he recorded 27 points in the Rebel win.
The normal taunting in the sports rivalry resulted in multiple technical fouls. The Rebels dominated the perimeter, as the Bulldogs in the paint. Rebounds defined this game as 2nd chance points and fast breaks made up for many of the points.
These games proved that Ole Miss belongs in the NCAA tournament. And belong in the top 25 as they are currently on a 10 game win streak and are 13-1 at the spread. Kermit Davis has really been surprising as he has changed the culture of Ole Miss basketball, making it into one of the best teams they have ever had. This Ole Miss team has so much potential and could do great things.
