Coming up on April 25-27 is the 2019 NFL draft. Here are some notable players to watch out for in the draft.
First up is Ole Miss wide receiver DK Metcalf. Metcalf has received a lot of hype for his stellar combine performance and his build as a wide receiver. Some teams who have shown interest in Metcalf are the Bills, the Raiders, The Giants, The Titans, Dolphins and more. He is projected around picks 9-14 in the first round.
Another player who had a great combine performance is Mississippi State DL Montez Sweat. He is projected in the top 5 after setting the Defensive lineman record for the fastest 40 yard dash with a 4.41 second time. Some teams who have shown interest in Sweat are the Buccaneers, 49ers, Bears, Bills, and the Raiders.
Sweat could be one of the best players in the draft and will immediately make an impact in the NFL.
Next is another Ole Miss Wide receiver. AJ Brown. AJ Brown was projected top 5 before the season but his draft stock went down during the season. AJ is projected around 17-30 pick in the first round and has received interest from the Giants, The colts , and the Raiders. Brown stated that he wanted to go to Pittsburgh and be “the new AB”. Since Antonio Brown has been traded.
Some reporters and scouts have said they think brown is a future Hall of Famer.
Next is another Mississippi State defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons. Simmons is projected late first round to the Patriots after his ACL injury and will most likely sit out a season. An altercation also caused his draft stock to drop but this player can do big things on the field.
Another first round projection is Ole Miss Offensive Lineman Gregory Little. Little was the 2nd overall recruit 3 years ago and had been 3 different quarterbacks Blind Side in his ole miss career. The Panthers have shown heavy interest in Little as they want him to be Cam Newton’s Blindside for the remainder of his career.
In the later rounds both quarterbacks from the rival schools are expected to be drafted in the rounds 5-7. Jordan Ta’amu made a huge name for himself this past season and is receiving interest from the Chargers, Falcons, and Dolphins.
Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald is projected 7th round or undrafted But is entering the draft as a tight end. The giants have shown some interest in him as a “Taoism Hill type player”. Taysom Hill is a tight end, backup running back, and backup quarterback for the Saints. Maybe Fitzgerald can make something work if he can find the right position for him.
These are some of the players entering the draft from local colleges. These players have a big chance at making a big impact in the NFL. This NFL draft is filled with so much talent. That it is hard for these teams to decide who to draft.
