Noxapater finished 10th in the boys South State 1A track meet and 12th in the girls meet at Madison Central High School last Saturday. Nanih Waiya was 13th for the boys and 11th for the girls.
Junior T.J. Redhouse took second in the girls 1600 with a time of 6:29.01 and third in the 800 (2:53.75) for Nanih Waiya. Freshman Lindsey Copeland was third in the 300 hurdles (54.63).
The best Nanih Waiya boys performance was fourth by a couple of freshmen -- Trey McMullen in the 3200 (12:44.53) and Will Rogers in the 300 hurdles (50.72).
The top four in each event qualified for the state meet to be held Saturday at Pearl High School.
The best finish by anyone from Noxapater was third in the girls shot put by junior Morgan Hunter with a throw of 30 feet, five inches, and third in the boys 800 relay by the team of Dontavious Rush, Bryan Glass, LaJonathan Young and Jared Triplett with a time of 1:39.55. The 400 relay team took fourth.
Also earning points for the Noxapater boys were Glass, sixth in the 200 and seventh in the long jump, and Ryan Whitfield, sixth in the shot put and eighth in the discus. For Noxapater girls, Kim Edwards was fifth in the 100 hurdles.
For Nanih Waiya boys, Austin Sanders was fifth in the 100 and the 1600 relay team finished sixth. For the girls, the 1600 relay team was sixth.
