The new year didn’t get off to a good start for the Nanih Waiya basketball teams as they were swept in a doubleheader by Sebastopol on Friday.
The Lady Warriors suffered a 58-22 loss to the Lady Bobcats while the Warriors dropped a 57-32 decision to the Bobcats.
Nanih Waiya will return to play this week as they hosted Hamilton on Tuesday and played at Vardaman on Friday.

The Bobcats controlled the action and took a 25-point win over the Warriors to open division play.
Sebastopol led 28-16 at the half and pulled away in the second half to take the win.
Ethan Dailey led Nanih Waiya with nine points while Trey McMullan had seven points. Hagan Halfacre had six points while Jordan Higginbotham and Jaynus Williams each had five points apiece. McMullan and Higginbotham each had five rebounds apiece while Williams had four rebounds. McMullan had four assists while Halfacre had three assists. Williams also had three blocks and three deflections on defense for the Warriors.

The Lady Bobcats built a big lead and cruised to a 36-point win over the Lady Warriors.
Sebastopol led 14-6 at the end of the first and then outscored the Lady Warriors 24-6 in the second to lead 38-12 at the half. The Lady Bobcats outscored the Lady Warriors 12-2 in the third to lead 50-14 going to the fourth, where each team scored eight points.
Jalia Cotton led Nanih Waiya with eight points while Dallyn Nance had five points. T.J. Redhouse also chipped in four points.
