PEARL -- Louisville had only two entries at the MHSAA 4A state track meet Monday, but both were winners.
Sophomore Dora Tiana won the triple ump and the girls 400 relay team finished first.
Tiana's distance of 35 feet, 10 inches was a personal best and two and a half feet further than she did at the North State meet.
"I practice hard every day," she said.
The relay team of Kaleah Spann, Emma Reed, Star Latham and Tylisha Miller won with a clocking of 50.42. That was nearly half a second faster than North State when Louisville finished behind Byhalia, the runner-up this time.
In the MHSAA Class 1A state track meet on Saturday, Nanih Waiya had three athletes compete and Noxapater had one. They qualified by finishing among the top four in their events at the 1A South State meet.
For Nanih Waiya, T.J. Redhouse was seventh in the girls 3200 with a time of 14:35.89 and eighth in the 1600 (6:54.38). Ethan Dailey finished sixth in the boys 300 hurdles (50.57) and Trey McMullan was eighth in the boys 3200 (12:18.44).
Kyler Carter, the only Noxapater participant, was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 41-10½.
Tupelo Christian won the boys and girls meets.
