Noxapater was fourth and Nanih Waiya fifth at the boys 3-1A powerlifting meet last Saturday at McAdams High School.
The host team dominated the meet, winning seven of 11 weight classes and finishing with 68 points. Leake County was second with 39 points and three individual winners, followed by Ethel with 34 points and one winner, Noxapater with 18 points and Nanih Waiya with 8 points.
The top three in each weight class qualified for the South State meet Feb. 22 at Ethel.
Noxapater had three lifters who finished second in their weight classes. Kyle Phillips was runnerup at 132, totaling 600 pounds for the squat, bench press and dead lift, Connor Thrash second at 148 with 695 pounds and Tray Anderson second at 242 totaling 1,125. Alberto Smith was third at 148 (635).
For Nanih Waiya, John Stokes was runnerup at 165 (850) and Ashton Warren third at 275 (915).
The top three in each weight class at South State qualify for the state meet April 18 at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson,
Noxapater will compete at the girls Class I, Region 3 meet Saturday at McAdams.
