The East Webster basketball teams finally got back in their own gymnasium and the Lady Wolverines came away with their only win of the week, beating Amory 51-48 on Saturday.
The Lady Wolverines lost their two other games, falling 59-52 to Houston and 87-48 to Tishomingo County.
The Wolverines, still playing without the football team, lost all three games, falling 77-38 to Houston, 62-44 to Tishomingo County and 62-54 to Amory.
The East Webster boys will play one game this week as they travel to Corinth for the Lighthouse Classic where they will play Alcorn Central at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Both teams will return from the Thanksgiving break and host Ingomar on Tuesday and then host the East Webster shootout on Friday and Saturday.
East Webster girls 51, Amory 48
The Lady Wolverines overcame an early deficit to take a three-point win over the Lady Panthers in the home opener.
Amory led 16-10 at the end of the first before East had a big second period, outscoring the Lady Panthers 18-7 to lead 28-23 at the half. After each team scored 10 points in the third, Amory took the fourth period 15-13 for the final margin.
Whitney Winter led East Webster with 16 points while Lauren Graves had 15 points. Shan Culpepper had 12 points while Shamia Culpepper added seven points.
Amory boys 62, East Webster 54
The Wolverines put together a late run but it was too little too late as the Panthers took an eight-point win.
Amory led 20-15 at the end of the first and outscored East 12-4 in the second to lead 32-19 at the half. Amory led 49-34 at the end of the third before East Webster outscored the Panthers 21-13 in the fourth for the final margin.
Reid Gatlin led East Webster with 18 points while Cael Chrismond had 12 points. Hayes Fason added nine points.
Tishomingo County girls 87, East Webster 48
The Lady Braves had a big first half and cruised to a 39-point win over the Lady Wolverines.
Tishomingo County led 26-13 at the end of the first and 54-22 at the half. Tishomingo extended its lead in the third, outscoring East 21-12 to lead 75-34.
“They are a well-oiled machine,” Ginn said. “We play a good schedule and they are a good 4A girls team. Hopefully, it will make us better.”
Whitney Winter and Mary Grace Gregg each had 12 points while Amara Nunnley had 40 points for Tishomingo.
Tishomingo County boys 62, East Webster 44
The Braves outscored the short-handed Wolverines in every period they took an 18-point win.
Tishomingo County led 16-11 at the end of the first and 29-19 at the half. Tishomingo County extended the lead in the second half, outscoring East 17-12 in the third and 16-13 in the fourth.
Blake Slay led East Webster with 20 points while Chandler Hodges had eight points and Cael Chrismond added seven points.
Houston girls 59, East Webster 52
The Lady Hilltoppers had a hot second half shooting the basketball and took a seven-point overtime win over the Lady Wolverines on Monday.
East Webster led 13-9 at the end of the first before Houston outscored the Lady Wolverines 10-4 in the second to lead 19-17 at the half. East Webster outscored Houston 15-8 to lead 32-27. Houston outscored East 21-16 in the fourth to send the game to overtime, where they used an 11-4 advantage to take the win.
Whitney Winter led East Webster with 13 points while Shan Culpepper had 12 points. Shamia Culpepper had 11 points while Mary Grace Gregg had 10 points.
Houston boys 77, East Webster 38
The Hilltoppers led early and took a 39-point win over the Wolverines.
Houston led 28-9 at the end of the first and 40-15 at the half. Houston outscored East Webster 16-9 in the third and 21-14 in the fourth to take the win.
Chandler Hodges led East Webster with 14 points while Blake Slay had nine points.
