The East Webster Lady Wolverines finally got on the field and took four wins last week.
East Webster used a walk-off win to beat Vardaman 10-9 and then swept a doubleheader from Leflore County by scores of 15-0. The Lady Wolverines finished off the week with a 9-0 win over New Hope.
The Lady Wolverines will return to play this week as they host rival Eupora on Thursday in a key 2-2A contest.
East Webster 10, Vardaman 9
The Lady Wolverines held off a late charge by the Lady Rams and scored a walk-off run in the bottom of the seventh to take a one-run win on Monday.
East Webster scored three in the first and one in the second to lead 4-0. Vardaman scored one in the third, two in the fifth and six in the sixth to take a 9-5 lead going to the bottom of the sixth. East then scored four runs and finished off with a run in the seventh as Curtlyn Blake drew a bases-loaded walk to score Whitney Winter.
East Webster had nine hits and drew eight walks in the win. Katelee Box was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs while Josie Reed was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Peyton Flora was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Lexi Crenshaw walked twice and scored two runs while Keely McNight also scored twice. Emma McKee also drew two walks.
Liz Massey pitched all seven innings and and gave up nine runs on four hits and three walks whiles striking out three.
East Webster 15, Leflore County 0
The Lady Wolverines didn’t allow a hit as they took a 2 1/2 inning win over Leflore County on Thursday in the first game of a doubleheader.
East scored eight in the first and seven in the second on seven hits and 11 walks.
Coy Jennings singled and drove in three runs while Addison Edwards walked twice and scored twice. Liz Massey, Katelee Box, Josie Reed, Emma Jennings, Nashlynn Vickers and Abby Williams each singled and scored a run.
Abby Williams got the start in the circle and struck out six without giving up a hit.
East Webster 15, Leflore County 0
The Lady Wolverines scored 10 runs in the first inning and didn’t allow a hit in the doubleheader sweep of Lady Panthers.
East added five runs in the second for the final margin.
East only had three hits but drew nine walks and had six batters hit by a pitch.
Peyton Flora singled and got hit twice as she scored three runs. Hallie Beth Reed, Addison Edwards and Maggie Wade each walked twice while Wade scored twice. Nashlynn Vickers singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Emma Jennings singled and also drove in a run.
Flora got the start and pitched three innings, striking out six and walked one.
East Webster 9, New Hope 9
The Lady Wolverines used a pair of four-run innings and took a shutout win over the Lady Trojans on Friday.
The Lady Wolverines had 10 hits and drew four walks. Whitney Winter was 3-for-4 with a double while Peyton Flora was 2-for-3. Katelee Box doubled and drove in a run while Marlie Brewer also tripled. Curtlyn Blake and Addison Edwards each scored two runs.
Liz Massey got the start and gave up just one hit and three walks while striking out six.
