The East Webster Lady Wolverines overcame an early deficit as they pulled away in the second half to take an eight-point win over Ethel on Tuesday night.
East Webster improves to 9-4 with the win and will be off until next week when they host their annual Christmas Tournament.
Against Ethel, the Wolverines trailed 15-14 at the end of the first period and trailed 30-27 at the half. But the Lady Wolverines got in gear in the third period, outscoring the Lady Tigers 18-8 in the third to lead 45-38 heading to the fourth.
Whitney Winter led East Webster with 19 points while Mariah Bell had 11 points. Isha Patterson and Kadasha Bryant each had eight points apiece.
The East Webster girls will take on J.Z. George on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and if they winl, they will face Pillow Academy on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The winner’s bracket is set for Saturday at 4 p.m. for the girls. The boys will also play J.Z. George on Thursday at 8 p.m. and if they win will play Pillow Academy on Friday at 8 p.m. The winners bracket game is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Tigers jumped out to a big lead in the first period and held on to take a four-point win over the Wolverines, who fell to 8-5 on the season.
Ethel led 18-9 at the end of the first period and took a 33-25 lead at the half. Ethel outscored East Webster 14-13 in the third before the Wolverines used a 21-16 fourth period to cut the lead to four.
Keevon Patterson led the Wolverines with 21 points while Reed Gaitlin had 12 points and Nash Caldwell added 11 points. Carrin Townsend chipped in eight points.
