To the victors go the spoils they say. For members of the 2019 Louisville girls basketball team that meant championship rings to commemorate the team's MHSAA Class 4A state championship.
Rings were presented to players, coaches and managers at halftime of last week's home football game with Shannon.
“It was a good situation to recognize the kids for their accomplishments,” said Kenyon Ross “It rewarded them for all their hard work.” Ross coached the Lady Wildcats to the title before leaving to accept the head coaching position at Northwest Rankin.
All 17 members of the team received rings which show the team's record – 27-4. That included the three seniors – Iitasha Paty, Lymyia Fifer and Ta'miracle Patie – who returned to the campus for the ceremonies.
The Lady Wildcats won their last 10 games, with victories over Greenwood, Amory, Senatobia, Lanier and Ripley in the playoffs. The last three were close games that went down to the final buzzer.
Louisville returns four starters for new coach Frederick Morris.
