The Lady Wildcats of Louisville High School defeated Class 5A’s Ridgeland 59-34 last Monday to improve to 5-2 this season on the hoops season.
Ridgeland led 8-7 at the end of the first period before a 19-point second quarter pushed Louisville ahead 26-16 at halftime.
Louisville rattled off 19 more points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourth to earn the win. The Lady Wildcats’ defense held Ridgeland to eight points in the third quarter and 10 points in the fourth.
Sophomore Areyanna Hunter poured in a game-high 31 points while junior Kameron Hunter added 11 points to round out Louisville’s double-digit scorers. Senior Iitasha Paty finished with six points.
Louisville resumes action at home against Kemper County on Nov. 27, and it hosts West Point on Nov. 30 to close out its November schedule.
BOYS
The Wildcats traveled to Ridgeland last Monday and suffered an 88-39 defeat at the hands of their Class 5A opponent. The loss was Louisville’s third consecutive.
The Wildcats scored just three points in the first quarter while the Titans rattled off 18. Ridgeland outscored Louisville (1-5) 29-12 in the second period to take a 47-15 into intermission.
The Titans scored 23 and 18 points in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, while the Wildcats tallied 11 and 13 points in final two periods.
Tequavious Braggs led Louisville in scoring with 18 points and Tyrell Thames added 12 points.
Louisville concludes its November slate of games against Kemper County (Nov. 27) and West Point (Nov. 30). Both contests are at home.
