Louisville’s fast-pitch softball squad got its season under way last week with a trio of contests.
The Lady Cats opened their 2018 campaign with a 14-0 loss to Noxapater and a 14-9 setback at the hands of West Point early in the week, and on Friday dropped a wild, 29-19 slugfest at home against French Camp.
The Lady Wildcats also had a Thursday contest at Philadelphia postponed by rain.
This week, Louisville was to host Philly on Tuesday, go to Leake Central Thursday and host Eupora Friday.
The Lady Wildcats are off next week for spring break and are slated to return to action March 19 at Noxapater.
Last week against the Lady Tigers, the Lady Wildcats were out-hit just 3-2 but issued 12 bases on balls in a 14-0 loss.
Carlmeisha Hunt doubled and Adria Thames singled for Louisville’ s only hits.
Against West Point, the Lady Wildcats got a 3-for-4 performance from Jimaia Jackson, who scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Thames singled and scored twice; Marion Ming singled and scored once; Makaela Stewart singled; Erica Murry scored a pair of runs; Gabby Cistrunk scored once and also drove in a run; and Hunt and Lamyia Eiland both scored.
Louisville banged out 13 hits against French Camp on Friday night, but it was not enough to top the Lady Panthers.
Cistrunk had three singles, two runs and an RBI and Jackson had a single, double, two runs and three RBIs to lead the way.
Thames also singled and doubled, scoring once and driving in two runs while Stewart was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Eiland had one hit, three runs and an RBI; Ming had one hit, two runs and an RBI; Murry singled and scored twice; Myasia Johnson scored a pair of runs; and Nykearia Miller scored once.
