Nanih Waiya’s fast-pitch softball finally managed to get its first contest of the 2018 season in last Tuesday.
Unfortunately for the Lady Warriors, the contest came against Class 4A powerhouse Kosciusko.
The host Lady Whippets scored nine times in the home half of the first inning and took a rout-shortened, 16-0 win over Nanih Waiya.
It was the only action of the week for the Lady Warriors, 0-1, who were scheduled to visit Ethel on Tuesday before hosting Noxapater on Thursday in their home-opener.
Next week, Nanih Waiya is scheduled to return to Kosciusko on Monday (March 12) for spring-break tournament action.
Last Tuesday, Kosciusko took advantage of six walks in the first inning to fuel its nine-run rally. The Lady Whippets finished with 12 base hits and eight walks while also taking advantage of five errors by the young Lady Warriors.
Kaylee Gregory walked and was the only baserunner for Nanih Waiya, which was no-hit in the contest.
Kosy added another run in the second frame and scored six times in the third.
Morgan Mills was the starter and losing pitcher in the circle, while Dallyn Nance finished up for the Lady Warriors.
