The Nanih Waiya Lady Warriors won two games this past week, taking a pair of wins over Winston County’s other two schools.
The Lady Warriors took a 9-5 walk-off win over rival Noxapater on Thursday and then followed up with a 21-5 win over Louisville.
Nanih Waiya, now 4-5 on the season, will return to action on Monday as they host French Camp and will travel to Ethel on Thursday. The Lady Warriors will finish out the week with a Saturday road trip to Morton.
Nanih Waiya 9, Noxapater 5
The Lady Warriors got a grand slam home run from Morgan Mills to take a walk-off win over rival Noxapater on Thursday.
Nanih Waiya scored two in the first and fifth with one in the fourth. Noxapater scored one in the second and fifth and trailed 5-2 going into the seventh. The Lady Tigers then scored three in the top of the seventh to tie the game. In the seventh, Dallyn Nance led off the inning with a double and Abby Lynch followed with a walk. Hanna Higginbotham followed with a walk before Mills hit a 1-2 pitch to center field for an inside-the-park home run for the win.
Mills led Nanih Waiya at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double, home run and five RBIs. Dance was 2-for-3 with a double and three home runs while Kaylee Gregory was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Higginbotham singled and scored twice. Nance had five stolen bases for the Lady Warriors.
Noxapater had seven hits at the plate as Marley Joiner was 2-for-3. Katelyn Barnett doubled and scored two runs while Morgan Duran doubled and drove in a run. Madison Riggs and Katelyn Sanborn also doubled for Noxapater. Addy Webb also had two stolen bases for the Lady Tigers.
Mills also go the win in the circle and gave up five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five to pick up the win for the Lady Warriors.
Nanih Waiya 21, Louisville 5
The Lady Warriors used a pair of eight-run innings to take a five-inning, run-rule victory over the Lady Wildcats on Friday.
Nanih Waiya led 1-0 after two innings before the Lady Warriors scored eight in the third and fifth with four in the fourth. Louisville scored three in the third and two in the fifth.
Nanih Waiya had seven hits and took advantage of 13 walks and nine hit batters. Harley Pullin led Nanih Waiya at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Morgan Mills was 2-for-4 with a double and scored four runs. Hanna Higginbotham doubled and scored three runs while Jalia Cotton walked twice, scored three runs and had two RBIs. Kalee Cumberland scored two runs and had three RBIs while Abby Lynch walked three times and scored two runs. Dallyn Nance had three walks while Kaylee Gregory scored two runs.
Gregory got the start in the circle and gave up five runs on seven hits while striking out 10.
Noxapater 6, Choctaw County 3
The Lady Tigers limited the Lady Chargers to three hits and took a three-run win on Monday.
Noxapater scored four runs in the third and single runs in the fourth and fifth. Choctaw scored two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Noxapater had nine hits in the contest, led by Nona Wilkes who was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Kaitlyn Sanborn was 2-for-4 while Madison Riggs had a double and three RBIs. Andy Webb singled and scored two runs.
Lexi Thomas pitched all seven innings for the Lady Tigers to pick up the win, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out 11.
