The French Camp slow-pitch softball team had a win and two losses last week. The Lady Panthers defeated Cleveland Central 13-1 in a tournament at Eupora, but lost to South Pontotoc 13-1 at the same tournament and were beaten by Columbus 8-2.
Haleigh Outlaw led a nine-hit French Camp offense against Cleveland Central with a double and triple. “She had a really good game. Her bat came alive,” said coach Todd Chesser.
Kalee McDaniel singled, doubled and scored two runs, Breanna Grice singled twice, Maci Grice drove in three runs and Abby Leathers doubled, walked twice and scored three runs.
French Camp had four hits against Columbus, singles by Emma Wright, Breanna Grice, Jillian Skidmore and Cassie Taylor. Leathers drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Maci Grice on a fielder's choice.
French Camp took a 1-0 lead against South Pontotoc on an RBI single by Marley Sims in the first quarter. But South Pontotoc tied it with a run in the second and added three in the third, four in the fourth and five in the sixth.
French Camp had nine hits, including two each by Sims and Breanna Grice.
The Lady Panthers began play in Class I, Region 5 Tuesday with a doubleheader against McAdams and have a game at Union Thursday,
