French Camp slow pitch softball took leads in the seventh and eighth innings against Philadelphia, but was unable to hold on, resulting in a 7-6 loss.
The Lady Panthers scored three runs in the top of the seventh on a walk to Milly Sims, singles by Haleigh Outlaw and Cassie Taylor, an error and a run scoring groundout by Maci Grice for 4-2 lead. But Philadelphia scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. French Camp went back ahead 6-4 on a two-run triple by Sims in the top of the eighth before Philadelphia scored three times in the bottom of the inning for a walk-off victory. The winning run came in a sacrifice fly.
Molly Sims had a triple, two walks, two RBIs and scored a run. Kalee McDaniel had two hits as French Camp outhit Philadelphia 12-9.
In a second game last week, French Camp was blanked by Union 5-0. Union scored one in the third, three in the fifth and one in the sixth.
“We couldn’t do squat at the plate,” said coach Todd Chesser.
French Camp had six hits, two by Brianna Grice.
The Lady Panthers played Ethel Tuesday in an MHSAA Class I Region 5 game. A home game with Philadelphia scheduled for Thursday has been postponed until October 3.
“We will have a light practice Wednesday, then we will hit it hard Thursday to get ready for a three-game week (next week),” Chesser said.
