Choctaw County softball evened it's record at 1-1 with a 6-1 win victory over Starkville a 6A school.
“I'm very pleased,” said coach Lance Thomas “It was our first game with everybody out there. Starkville is a quality opponent.”
The Lady Chargers were without several key players in a 6-2 loss to Eupora due to the success of the basketball team, whose season was expanded to the quarterfinals of the 3A tournament.
Lizzie Thomas had a strong performance on the mound against Starkville, with eighth strikeouts.
The Lady Chargers took a 4-0 lead with three runs in the second and added single runs in the sixth and seventh. Starkville was blanked until Anna Prell Brooks homered in the bottom of the seventh for the Lady Jackets' only run.
Choctaw County will be off until a doubleheader at J.Z. George March 20.
