A trip to the Meridian Girls Shootout resulted in a 42-20 loss to Callaway for Choctaw County.
They were a lot bigger than we were and we had trouble rebounding,” said Lady Charger girls hoops coach Mandy Jewell. “We hung in the game the first half but couldn’t put it away in the second half. This was our first game after a long break and I believe that played a factor in the lack of scoring.”
It was tied 9-9 after one quarter, but Callaway began to assert itself in the second period, outscoring Choctaw County 14-4.
LaGenesis Johnson led Choctaw County with 9 points. Shariss Bridges scored 15 points on 6 of 9 shooting for Meridian.
The Chargers and Lady Chargers were set to face Kosciusko Tuesday and have home games with South Pontotoc Friday.
