Grace Christian had a volleyball match scheduled with Starkville last week that was canceled. Coach Jamey Willers filled the void by having her team play one set against parents and three sets against a team of alumnae.
The varsity beat the grads 2-1. “It was a fun night,” she said.
Willers and her assistant Rachel Brownlee played for the alumnae. They were joined on the team by Braeden Nabers, Evelyn Phillips, Anna Miller, Holly Borntrager, Morgan Troyer, Anje Morgan, Ashlea Howell and Brooke Gillis.
With Willers and Brownlee playing for the alumnae, Willers had her four seniors – Annabelle Crowder, Kiara Nash, Maggie Phillips and Caroline Robbins -- run the varsity team.
“I just told them to make sure everyone got in. Other than that they could work it any way they wanted.”
Grace Christian played Choctaw County Tuesday, The Lady Eagles were scheduled to conclude the season with a home march Thursday against Pickens Academy, but Pickens canceled.
Because it is Senior Night, Willers will try to find another opponent.
