The East Webster Wolverines added three more wins this week.
The opened the Class 2A playoffs on Saturday, beating New Site 5-2.
The Wolverines finished out the regular season last week as they beat Bruce 8-2 on Monday and French Camp 7-3 on Tuesday.
East Webster moves to 18-6 on the season and was scheduled to host an if-necessary game on Tuesday at at 6 p.m.
East Webster 5, New Site 2
The Wolverines used three pitchers and took a three-run win over the Royals on Saturday to open up the Class 2A playoffs.
East Webster took an early lead with a single run in the second. New Site then scored two runs in the third to take a 2-1 lead. East Webster then took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning and added an insurance run in the sixth.
Both teams had seven hits in the contest as Jase Grantham led the Wolverines at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Jon Austin Roberts was also 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Jesse Roberts was 2-for-3 with a double. Cameron Pilgrim walked twice and had a double while Wes Silver drew three walks.
Gray McCarter started for East Webster and pitched three innings, giving up two runs on six hits while Roberts pitched the next three inning and gave up just one hit while striking out three. Will Gaskin pitched the last inning to pick up the save.
New Site 5, East Webster 3
The Royals took a two-run win on Monday, despite being outhit 8-4.
New Site scored one in the first, fourth and fifth and finished with two in the sixth. East scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
Cameron Pilgrim led East Webster at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Sloan Hillhouse was 2-for-3. Hastings Gibson doubled and drove in a run while John Wesley Hardin score two runs.
Jon Austin Roberts, Hillhouse, Will Gaskin and Gray McCarter all pitched for the Wolverines in the loss.
East Webster 8, Bruce 2
The Wolverines scored seven runs in the last two innings to take a six-run win over the Trojans on Monday.
Bruce scored two in the first and led 2-1 going into the sixth. But East Webster scored four in the sixth and three in the seventh to take the win.
East Webster outhit Bruce 8-2 in the contest. Wes Silver was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs while John Wesley Hardin was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jase Grantham was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Sloan Hillhouse and Jon Austin Roberts each scored two runs apiece.
Gray McCarter started not the mound and pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up two unearned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three. Roberts pitched the final 4 1/3 innings and gave up just one hit and struck out four.
East Webster 7, French Camp 3
The Wolverines scored all of their runs in the last three innings to take a four-run win over the Panthers on Tuesday in the regular-season finale.
French Camp scored one in the first and led 1-0 after four innings. East Webster then scored three in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh while French Camp scored two in the bottom of the seventh.
East Webster outhit French Camp 6-5 while the Wolverines also had six walks. Jace Grantham was 2-for-3 on the day with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Jon Austin Roberts was 2-for-3 and drove in a run while Wes Silver and John Wesley Hardin each singled and had an RBI.
Will Gaskin started on the mound and pitched 4 1/3 innings and gave up one run on four hits and struck out four. Sloan Hillhouse pitched 1 2/3 innings and struck out four while Hastings Gibson pitched the last inning.
