One slow-pitch season came to an end last week and another carried on for another week.
East Webster won in convincing fashion as they beat Calhoun City 11-1 and 17-3 on Saturday while Eupora lost a pair of two-run games, falling 11-9 and 9-7 to Vardaman.
EAST WEBSTER
The Lady Wolverines advanced to the second round of the slow-pitch playoff with a series sweep of Calhoun City. East Webster cruised to the victory as they won 11-1 and 17-3.
In the second game of the series, Coy Jennings was 3-for-5 and drove in four runs to lead the Lady Wolverines.
East Webster will now take on Humphreys County in the second round of the Class 1 Brackets. Humphrey County was the No. 1 seed in Region 1. The winner will face the winner of the Amory and Vardaman series on Saturday.
EUPORA
Eupora’s slow-pitch season came to an end last week as they lost a doubleheader at Vardaman on Saturday.
In game 1 of the series, Vardaman took an 11-9 win. The Lady Rams scored all 11 of their runs in the first inning while Eupora fought back and scored two in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth. Vardaman outhit Eupora 16-11 in the contest. Haley Farley was 2-for-4 with a double while Rylee Brooke Crowell was 2-for-3. Harper Doggett was 2-for-4 with a home run while Mackenzi Reed-Wood was 2-for-4.
In game 2 of the series, Vardaman scored two runs in the top of the eighth and her on to take a 9-7 win over the Lady Eagles and end their season. Eupora scored two in the fourth and four in the sixth and sent the game to extra innings with one in the seventh. Vardaman outhit Eupora 16-10 in the contest. Meleah Pogue was 3-for-3 with a double and home run while Marleigh Abbott was 2-for-4 with a home run. Rylee Brooke Crowell was 2-for-3 while Aubree Mason was 2-for-4.
