The Eupora High School Eagles ended up their spring football practices with an intra-squad scrimmage.
“I thought it went real well,” Eupora coach Stephen Edwards said. “The kids were real competitive and I thought the defense looked really good. I thought they did a good job on their side. Deonte Watson was really good and we never really blocked him this spring. I think we can be pretty good on that side of the ball.”
Edwards said the offense should get better over the summer with more reps for the quarterbacks and the offensive line.
“We have got to be able to block better on offense,” Edwards said. “We had a couple of linemen out and got some younger guys in there. We mainly worked with two quarterbacks and got them a lot of strengths. We have two pretty good running backs in Tre McComb and Trevon McMillan. They are fast and strong for their size. They had a really good spring.”
Edwards said the Eagles will take the rest of May off and get started back in June.
“We won’t get started in the weight room until June,” Edwards said. “We are going to give them a break and then get after it in June. We have five 7-on-7 dates scheduled and will get to the MSU camp as well. We have a big-man camp and will lift three days a week. We will have the weight room open 24 times because we start a week later. They have to make 20 workouts to be a dirty bird.”
