The Eupora Eagle tennis team won two out of three matches last week.
The Eagles took a pair of 5-2 wins over Kosciusko and Oak Hill Academy and dropped a 6-1 decision to the Mississippi School for Math and Science.
Eupora has a full set of matches this week as they hosted Leland on Monday in a makeup match. They are set to host Winona Christian on Tuesday and then host rival East Webster on Thursday. The Eagles will finish the week on Friday as they host French Camp.
Eupora 5, Kosciusko 2
The Eagles won three third-set tiebreakers as they took a three-point win over Class 4A Kosciusko on Monday.
In girls doubles, both teams needed a third set but came out victorious. At the No. 1 set. Wesleigh Cummings and Lillian Winter won 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 at the No. 1 spot while Jasi Brooke Galloway and Madison Goodrum won 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 at the No. 2 spot. At girls singles, Grace Burton won 6-1, 6-2.
On the boys side, Garett Grimm and John Thomas Frank won 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 in three sets at the No. 1 spot while Cliff Jernigan and Woods Mitchell lost 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot. At boys singles, Grant Frank won 6-0, 6-2.
In mixed doubles, Walker Mitchell and Belle Powell lost 6-2, 6-1.
Mississippi School for Math and Science 6, Eupora 1
The Eagles only won one court as they dropped a division match to MSMS.
The only win for Eupora came in boys No. 1 doubles as John Thomas Frank and Garrett Crimm won 6-1, 6-2. In No. 2 boys doubles, Cliff Jernigan and Woods Mitchell lost 6-0, 6-0. In boys singles, Grant Frank lost 6-3, 2-6, 10-4 in a third set tiebreaker.
