Houston and Winona came to Eupora last week and both handed the Eagles and Lady Eagles losses.
The Eupora boys lost to Houston 72-28 on Tuesday as they managed just seven points in the second half. They fell behind 45-21 at the half and couldn’t recover from there.
Zak Morris scored 11 points.
Against Winona, some of the same issues persisted on both ends of the floor as the Eagles were on the wrong end of a 68-36 ball game. Eupora scored just four points in the first quarter and trailed 36-11 at the half. Only three players scored in the game with Perron Hill’s 19 leading the way and Morris also hitting double digits with 10 points.
The Eagles followed that up with another defeat to Class 2A, Region 2 standout Calhoun City on Monday night as the Wildcats took a 75-47 victory in Eupora. The win gave CCHS the No. 1 seed for the district tournament coming up as the Eagle fell to 3-12 overall and 2-3 in Region 2 play. They are closing in on the No. 3 seed for the tournament.
Bruce is next on the docket on the road for the Eagles as they’ll travel there on Friday before they get ready for the last week of regular season action.
GIRLS
The Lady Eagles (1-16, 0-5 Region 2) struggled this past week as well with three losses.
Houston took a 51-29 win in the first game of the week with the Lady Eagles also struggling to score. They had three points in the first quarter as they couldn’t keep up with the Lady Hilltoppers. M’Nyjah Young had 15 points for Eupora as she continued to be the leader for the team on offense this season.
In a 31-19 loss to Winona last week, Eupora had just five points in the entire first half. Nadia Coffey was the leading scorer on this night with seven points.
Eupora capped off the week with a loss on Monday to Calhoun City 53-19.
