Eupora’s baseball season came to an end on Monday as it dropped a two-game series to East Union.
The Urchins won game 1 of the series 13-7 and then took game 2 14-4 to sweep the series.
Eupora also lost 6-3 to Nanih Waiya in the regular-season finale on Tuesday. Eupora finishes the season with a 9-14 record.
East Union 14, Eupora 4
The Urchins took the opening-round series with a run-rule win on Monday.
Eupora took the early lead with one in the first before East scored six in the second, two in the third and fifth and four in the fourth Eupora added two more runs in the fourth and one in the fifth.
East Union outhit Eupora 5-4 as Eupora drew nine walks while East Union drew eight walks.
Carter May had a home run and had two RBIs while Landon Davis singled and score a run. Parker Knight and Jacob Collum also had singles while Avery Tollison walked twice and scored a run.
Cade Adkins, Carter May and Knight each pitched for the Eagles.
East Union 13, Eupora 7
The Eagles took the early lead but couldn’t hold the lead as they dropped seven-run decision to the Urchins on Saturday in Game 1 of the Class 2A series.
Eupora scored three in the bottom of the first to take an early lead but East Union answered with two in the second, four in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to go up 11-3. Eupora answered with four in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 11-7 while East Union scored two in the top of the seventh to take the win.
Eupora had 11 hits in the contest, led by Carter May who was 3-for-4 with a triple. Reed Hale was 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Landon Davis was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Drew Tabb singled and drove in two runs.
Hale started on the mound for the Eagles, going 3 2/3 innings, giving up just two earned runs. Tanner Fletcher pitched the next 2 1/3 innings and gave up just one earned run while Chris Robinson pitched the last inning.
Nanih Waiya 6, Eupora 3
The Warriors scored five runs in the fifth and took a tight three-run win over the Eagles on Tuesday.
Nanih Waiya scored one in the first and finished off with five in the fifth, Eupora scored all three of their runs in the fifth.
Each team had five hits in the contest. Parker Knight led Eupora at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Ty Murphy singled and scored a run and had an RBI while Carter May and Landon Davis also singled for the Eagles.
Reed Hale started on the mound and pitched three innings and gave up one run on two hits while striking out three. Cade Adkins, Parker Knight and Tanner Fletcher also pitched for the Eagles.
