In a key Division 2-2A series, East Webster and Eupora left it all on the field last week.
The two teams engaged in a 10-inning classic on Tuesday that the Eagles ended up winning 6-5 on a Zach Cooper walk-off single. The Wolverines bounced back on Saturday to take a 6-3 win on Saturday to split the series.
East Webster moves to 10-4 on the year and is set to travel to French Camp on Monday and host Calhoun City on Tuesday in a 2-2A contest. The Wolverines will travel to West Point on Thursday and then travel to Calhoun City on Friday.
Eupora, now 5-10, will play a two-game series with Bruce this week in another 2-2A series with playoff implications. Tuesday’s game will be at Bruce while Friday’s game will be at Eupora. Both games are set to start at 7:30 p.m.

Eupora got a single from Zack Cooper in the bottom of the 10th inning to take a walk-off win The game pitted two of Class 2A’s best pitchers in Eupora’s Tanner Knight and East Webster’s Walker Johnson, both of whom have signed to play at East Central Community College next year.
Knight pitched seven innings as he gave up four runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out six. Brett May pitched in relief of Knight and picked up the win as he pitched three innings and gave up one run on two hits and two walks while striking out one to take the win.
Johnson also went his pitch limit and went 5 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four. Jon Austin Roberts pitched the final 4 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on five hits and four walks. Art Thompson came on in relief of Roberts.
East Webster went ahead with two runs in the top of the second and added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to go up 4-3 heading to the seventh. Eupora scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings and got a solo home run from Knight to send the game into extra innings. After a scoreless eighth inning, each team scored one run in the ninth inning before Eupora took the win in the tenth.
Eupora had 11 hits in the contest with three multiple hitters. Knight was 2-for-4 with a home run, two walks and two RBIs. Al Dumas was 2-for-4 with two walks and two runs scored while Landon Davis was 2-for-5. Brett May, Landon Davis and Dustin Cabaniss each had doubles in the contest.
East Webster had nine hits in the contest as J.T. Slay and Luke McKee were each 2-for-4 and scored a run while McKee stole two bases. Dalton Perrigin and Roberts each had one RBI and scored one run.

The Wolverines bounced back to take Game 2 of the series on Saturday with a three-run win.
Eupora took the early lead as they scored two runs in the first inning and one in the third to go up 3-0. But East Webster finally broke through as they scored two runs in the fourth and four in the fifth.
After starting Game 1 and throwing 100-plus pitches, Walker Johnson returned and threw 3 1/3 innings as he game up three runs on five hits while striking out seven and walking two. Kainan Reed pitched the next 1 2/3 innings and didn’t give up a run while Jon Austin Roberts pitched the final two innings and gave up just one hit to get the save.
Brett May got the start for Eupora and pitched 4 2/3 innings and gave up six runs on four hits and eight walks. Cade Adkins and Al Dumas each pitched 2/3 of an inning.
At the plate, East Webster had just five hits as Wes Silver was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Johnson also drove in two runs while Art Thompson had a double and scored a run.
Eupora had six hits in the contest as Bret May was 2-for-4. Tanner Knight had a double and scored two runs. Ian Garrard had a single and an RBI for the Eagles. Al Dumas, Garrard and Carter May each had two stolen bases.
