As the regular season comes to a close, Eupora had each team drop a couple of ball games to Class 4A, Region 2 rivals.
The Eagles started the week by going up against the top team in the district in Calhoun City and the Wildcats had their way with the Eagles. A 21-point first quarter set the tone for the rest of the ball game and Eupora dropped a 75-47 decision.
Mark Pass had 15 points in the game and went 8-of-11 from the free throw line. Zack Morris finished with 10 points.
Bruce swept Eupora in the season series as the Eagles dropped another heartbreaker against the Trojans 51-45. The Eagles let this one slip away as they led 34-18 at the half. They ultimately were up 41-35 at the end of the third quarter and the Trojans shut them down in the fourth and allowed themselves to take over.
Morris had 21 points but 16 of those came in the first half. He had five points in the third quarter and was held scoreless in the fourth as he got in foul trouble.
It’s the final week of regular season ball and Eupora (3-14, 2-3) hosted Senior Night on Tuesday and were to travel to Choctaw County to take on the rival Chargers.

The Lady Eagles also went 0-2 on the week starting with a 51-19 defeat to Calhoun City. Junior Nadia Coffey had nine points.
Offense has been an issue for the young Lady Eagles all season and it was again this week. They also struggled on that end of the floor in the final Region 2 game of the year dropping a 58-22 contest to Bruce on Friday. Rakaysha Triplett led the team with 10 points.
The good news for Eupora is that players other than M’Nyjah Young were getting things done on the offensive end. The bad news was that Young was being held in check herself. The junior Young has been a steady piece for the team this year on both ends but was held to six points in each of the losses.
Now the Lady Eagles (1-18) will have to finish the season up with two more regular season games before district tournament action begins next week. They will be the No. 5 seed in the tournament with an 0-4 record.
