The Eupora Lady Eagles got in a trio of softball games last week, winning just one of the three.
The Lady Eagles beat Louisville 14-0 on Monday before falling 7-3 to Vardaman and 5-4 in nine innings against New Hope.
“We hit the ball really well against Louisville,” Eupora coach Amir Hunt said. “if we can hit like we did against Louisville throughout the season, we will win a lot of games. But we didn’t do that against Vardaman or New Hope. We are going to be OK but we have to figure out out to string together some hits. And with the new softball, you have to hit behind runners and move them around. It makes a difference.”
Against Louisville, Rylee Brooke Crowell was 2-for-2 and had four RBIs while Meleah Pogue was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Marleigh Abbott was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Haylee McCrory had two walks and scored three runs while Haley Farley walked twice and scored twice. Addison Mason also had two RBIs.
Against Vardaman, the Lady Eagles had seven hits in the loss. Haylee McCrory was 2-for-3 and scored two runs to lead the Lady Eagles.
No stats were available for the Calhoun City game.
Eupora will travel to Louisville on Monday and travel to Winona on Tuesday. On Thursday, 5A powerhouse Neshoba Central comes to Eupora. The Lady Rockets are coached by Eupora native and former Eupora coach Tre Embry.
