The East Central Community College men’s tennis team picked up a 9-0 shutout road win over the Copiah-Lincoln Wolves Saturday, Feb. 9, in Wesson. The ECCC women fell 8-1 to the Co-Lin Lady Wolves
The ECCC men are now 2-1 on the young season, while the Lady Warriors fell to 1-2.
East Central now travels to Goodman to face Holmes at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, and then to Summit to face Southwest at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15. The next home matches are at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, when Gulf Coast visits the Tennis Complex in Decatur.
“It was a good win against an undermanned Co-Lin men’s team,” said ECCC head coach Jay Pacelli. “The men took care of business. On the women’s side, I’m looking for improved play when we face Holmes next week. The women are struggling at the moment.”
Isaac Keen of Winston Academy took a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jason Clayborn in singles and teams up with Jake Wofford of East Webster to take a forfeit win in doubles.
The nationally ranked Jones College tennis teams handed East Central Community College a pair of losses in MACJC matches played Wednesday, Feb. 6.
, at the Tennis Complex on the ECCC campus in Decatur.
The No. 17 ranked Jones women defeated the ECCC Lady Warriors 7-2, while the No. 25 ranked Jones Bobcats topped the Warriors 8-1.
Keen and Wofford dropped an 8-3 decision in men's doubles, while Jacob Johnson got past Keen 6-4, 6-1 in men's singles.
