Both East Webster basketball teams picked up a pair of wins this week as they swept Nanih Waiya and Ethel.
The Lady Wolverines beat Ethel 56-33 and Nanih Waiya 56-20 before losing to New Site 69-48.
After a solid week last week, the Wolverines picked up two more wins s they beat Ethel 69-48 and Nanih Waiya 55-42 before losing to New Sit 73-40.
East Webster will host its annual Christmas Tournament on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, East Webster will take on Calhoun Academy starting at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, the East Webster girls will play South Pontotoc at 6:30 p.m. while the boys will play Louisville at 8 p.m.
East Webster girls 56, Ethel 33
The Lady Wolverines outscored the Lady Tigers in every period as they took a 23-point win.
East Webster started fast as it led 16-6 at the end of the first and 28-12 at the half. The Lady Wolverines continued to extend their lead as they outscored Ethel 11-8 in the third and 17-13 in the fourth to take the win.
Shameriah Culpepper led East Webster with 13 points while Meri-Grace Gregg had 12 points. Witney Winter had 11 points while Peyton Flora added seven points.
East Webster boys 69, Ethel 48
The Wolverines got off to a quick start and took a 21-point win over the Tigers.
East Webster led 18-4 at the end of the first period and 34-18 at the half. Ethel took the third period 15-12 to cut the lead to 46-33 going into the fourth. East Webster outscored Ethel 23-15 in the fourth for the final margin.
Reid Gatlin led East Webster with 17 points while Blake Slay had 16 points and Sedrick Taylor added 13 points.
East Webster girls 56, Nanih Waiya 20
The Lady Wolverines had little trouble as they took a 36-point win over the Lady Warriors on Thursday.
East Webster led 13-2 at the end of the first period and outscored Nanih Waiya 23-8 in the second to lead 36-10 at the half. Playing mainly subs in the second half, East Webster outscored Nanih Waiya 11-2 in the third and 10-8 in the fourth.
Shan Culpepper led East Webster with 15 points while Whitney Winter added eight points. Lauren Graves and Peyton Flora added six points apiece.
East Webster boys 55, Nanih Waiya 42
]The Wolverines used a balanced scoring attack as they took a 13-point win over the Warriors.
East Webster led 10-6 at the end of the first period and outscored Nanih Waiya 15-11 to lead 25-17 at the half. East Webster added to its lead in the third, outscoring the Warriors 18-13 to take a 43-30 lead as each team scored 12 points in the fourth.
]Reid Gatlin led East Webster with 13 points while Cael Chrismond had nine points. Nash Caldwell and Hayes Fason added seven points.
New Site girls 69, East Webster 48
The Lady Royals outscored the Lady Wolverines in every period as they took a 21-point win on Friday.
New Site outscored East Webster 17-11 in the first and 15-13 in the second to lead 32-24 at the half. New Site continued to add to its lead as they outscored East Webster 14-11 in the third and 23-13 in the fourth.
Whitney Winter led East Webster with 16 points while Shameriah Culpepper had 15 points and Shan Culpepper added eight points.
New Site boys 73, East Webster 40
The Royals pulled away in the middle two periods to take a 33-point win over the Wolverines on Friday.
New Site led 18-14 at the end of the first and 31-21 at the half. New Site continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring East Webster 14-4 in the third and 28-15 in the fourth.
Sedrick Taylor led East Webster with 12 points while Blake Slay added seven points.
