Despite some heavy rains early in the week, East Webster got in two slow-pitch softball games last week, beating Vardaman with a walk-off win but dropped a 14-2 decision to defending state champion South Pontotoc.
he Wolverines took a 7-6 win over Vardaman on Thursday.
Vardaman scored two runs in the first, sixth and seventh innings. East Webster scored two in the third, fifth and one in the six as they trailed 6-5 going into bottom of the seventh. East then scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to take the win.
The Lady Wolverines had 16 hits in the contest, led by Emma Jennings who was 4-for-4 with a run scored. Hallie Beth Reed was 2-for-2 and scored two runs while Katelee Box was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple. Marlie Brewer was 2-for-2 with a double while Abby Williams and Whitney Winter were also 2-for-4.
Box picked up the win on the mound, pitching all seven innings.East Webster lost its other game last week 14-2 to South Pontotoc.
East Webster will return to play on Tuesday as they host rival Eupora. On Thursday, East Webster will travel to Winona to finish out the week.
