Both East Webster basketball teams improved to 8-4 on the season with a pair of sweeps this past week.
The Lady Wolverines needed overtime to beat Vardaman 57-54 and then cruised to a 55-30 win over Eupora on Friday. The Wolverines also picked up two wins, beating Vardaman 49-38 and Eupora 72-49.
East Webster only has one game scheduled this week as they will travel to Ethel on Tuesday.

Whitney Winter hit two big free throws to send the game into overtime and the Lady Wolverines were able to grab the win in the extra period.
The two teams played earlier in the season and the Lady Wolverines took a 67-32 win but Tuesday night was a different story.
The overtime win was a good win because we had beat them bad earlier in the season but they were missing their best player,” Ginn said. “They had her back and came over here wanting some revenge and played us really hard. We had to play hard the entire game and were down most of the game. We had to hit some free throws late to send the game to overtime so I was proud of the girls for keeping their composure.”
Vardaman came out and led 12-10 at the end of the first and 23-21 at the half. Vardaman outscored East Webster 16-15 in the third to make the score 39-36 but the Lady Wolverines were able to send the game into overtime tied at 52. The Lady Wolverines outscored the Lady Rams 5-2 in the fourth to take the win.
Winter led the Lady Wolverines with 21 points while Isha Patterson had 20 points.

Vardaman 38
The Wolverines used a big second period to build a lead and took an 11-point win over the Rams.
East led 13-11 in the first and then outscored Vardaman 17-7 in the second to lead 30-18 at the half. Vardaman tightened the game up in the third, outscoring East Webster 11-6 to make the score 36-29. But the Wolverines held on and outscored the Rams 13-9 in the fourth to take the win.
Reid Gatlin led East Webster with 20 points while Keevon Patterson added 11 points.

Eupora 30
The Lady Wolverines jumped out to an 11-0 lead and cruised to a 25-point win over the rival Lady Eagles.
East Webster led 11-0 at the end of the first and then outscored Eupora 21-8 in the second to lead 32-8 at the half. The second half was mostly even as Eupora outscored East Webster 12-11 in the third but the Lady Wolverines took the fourth 12-10.
\Whitney Winter and Jaden Johnson each had 11 points apiece while Meri-Grace Gregg had nine points and Isha Patterson added eight points.

Eupora 49
The Wolverines outscored the Eagles in every period as they took a 23-point win over their rivals in a non-division contest.
East scored early and often in the first half, outscoring Eupora 25-15 in the first and 21-19 in the second to lead 46-34 at the half. The Wolverines continued to extend the lead in the second half, outscoring the Eagles 14-6 in the third and 12-9 in the fourth to take the win.
“I wasn’t really happy with how we played against Vardaman, especially on offense,” Ginn said. “But I thought we played a lot better on offense against Eupora. I thought we made up for it on both ends of the court.”
Keevon Patterson led East Webster with 23 points while Carrin Townsend had 12 points. Reid Gatlin and Nash Caldwell each had 11 points apiece.
]Jerron Patterson led Eupora with 15 points while D.J. Patterson had 13 points and Caleb Rush added nine points.
