The East Webster basketball teams each won two games last week, sweeping contests from Bruce and rival Eupora.
The Lady Wolverines grabbed a pair of blowout wins as they beat Bruce 70-38 and Eupora 45-18 to improve to 13-6 overall and 2-1 in Division 2-2A play.
The Wolverines had a tougher time as they beat Bruce 68-55 and Eupora 45-42. The Wolverines improve to 13-6 overall and 3-0 in division play.
East Webster will return to play this week as they travel to Northside on Tuesday and will host J.Z. George in a non-division contest on Friday. On Saturday, the Lady Wolverines will be up early as they play Choctaw County at 9 a.m. in the Mid-Mississippi Challenge while the Wolverines will play Louisville at 10:30 a.m.

Eupora 18
After a tight first period, East Webster pulled away to take a blowout win on Friday.
East Webster led 8-5 at the end of the first period and then outscored the Lady Eagles 14-4 to lead 22-9 at the half. The Lady Wolverines dominated the second half as they outscored the Lady Eagles 15-9 in the third and 8-0 in the fourth.
“We had a good week on offense,” coach Jon Ginn said. “And we played some good defense for the most part. Eupora played us tough in the first period. We started to break it open in the second and I thought we dominated them in the second half. It was a good defensive effort.”
Isha Patterson led the Lady Wolverines with 23 points while Mariah Bell had nine points. Takiyah Townsend led Eupora with nine points while Kyla Patterson had eight points.

Eupora 42
The Wolverines built an early lead but had to hold on to take a three-point win over their rival on Friday night.
East Webster led 14-9 at the end of the first period and 23-15 at the half. After each team scored nine points in the third period, Eupora overcame a double-digit deficit and outscored East Webster 18-13 in the fourth as a three-point to tie the game missed to end the game.
“It seemed like we were in control, we hit a couple of three and actually went up 16 points,” Ginn said. “But we turned the ball over and didn’t manage the end of the game very well. I give Eupora credit, they came back and a chance to tie it but missed the shot. We were lucky to come out with a win.”
Carrin Townsend led East Webster with 16 points while Keevon Patterson had 14 points. Sedrick Taylor also chipped in nine points.
Jarren Patterson led Eupora with 22 points while Kaleb Rush had eight points and D.J. Patterson had five points.

Bruce 38
The Lady Wolverines flexed their muscles on offense as they took a 32-point win over Bruce on Tuesday.
East led 21-14 at end of the first and outscored the Lady Trojans 24-17 to take a 45-31 lead at the half. The Lady Wolverines stretched the lead in the second half as they outscored the Lady Trojans 15-4 in the third and 10-3 in the third.
Whitney Winter led East Webster with 19 points while Isha Patterson had 13 points. Kadasha Bryant had eight points while Mariah Bell, Jaden Johnson and Shan Culpepper each had seven points apiece.

Bruce 55
The Wolverines pulled away in the fourth period to take a 13-point win over the Trojans on Tuesday.
East Webster led for most of the first half, leading 18-15 at the end of the first and 33-28 at the half. Bruce cut into the lead in the third, outscoring East Webster 16-14 to cut the lead to 47-44. The Wolverines pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the Trojans 21-11 to take the win.
Carrin Townsend led East Webster with 19 points while Keevon Patterson had 18 points. Reed Gatlin had 14 points while Sedrick Taylor added eight points.
