Sophomore Bonner Brownlee totaled 57 points and 26 rebounds in three games for Grace Christian as the Eagles won two and lost one. Grace Christian defeated North New Summit 51-15 and Mt. Zion Christian 65-29, but lost to Amory Christian 40-37.
“We played our best basketball of the season last week,” said coach Jason Morgan. “We are starting to get healthier, we are taking better care of the ball and we are executing on offense better and better.
Brownlee had 18 points and 13 rebounds in the loss to Amory Christian, 15 and 7 against North New Summit and 24 and 6 in the win over Mt. Zion.
Sophomore Jacob Phillips also had a double-double against Amory Christian with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman Grayson Skelton had 10 points and four assists against North New Summit and senior Micah Ballard 18 points and five assists in the Mt. Zion game.
The Lady Eagles defeated Amory Christian 36-32.
“It was definitely not our best game,” said coach Talor Troyer. “We had too many turnovers and they had too many offensive rebounds.”
Grace Christian led 19-15 at the half. The second half was close, but the Lady Eagles never relinquished the lead.
Carly Peters scored 18 points and Caroline Robbins 10.
The Eagles and Lady Eagles were scheduled to play Oxford School of Regents Monday, weather permitting, and the boys were set to play Scott County Home School Tuesday,
